Lord. Just when they "extended" the Yellow Line. This is really going to be a disservice to so many people who depend on Yellow/Green to get around (myself included). I sensed something was wrong with the trains a few days ago when it screeched loudly going from Columbia Heights to U Street.
I'm glad no one was horribly injured during this gruesome ordeal, but this is a sign that Metro needs to get it together.

Train derailments, while obviously a bad thing, happen in any large transportation system. NYC has had its fair share, as has the L in Chicago, and BART in San Francisco. It happens in Spain, England, Germany, Japans, and many other places.

My point--nothing's perfect. Metro has a pretty "track" record and, honestly, Metro does "have it together". It's unfortunate that accidents happen, but Metro isn't so special that it's immune to or should be immune to the problems associated with all large transit system. I think Metro takes this, and all accidents, very seriously.
